Cacao originates from South America, where it’s harvested in pods, with the raw beans then fermented to reduce their initial bitterness. Cacao is high in fibre, and contains all three of the macronutrients; protein, carbohydrate and fat, along with over 300 identifiable compounds including vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids. Cacao has over 40x the antioxidants found in blueberries, which help to absorb free radicals and prevent cell and tissue damage.
Due to its naturally rich vitamin and mineral content, Cacao has been shown to provide a range of benefits when consumed, these include; promoting a healthy heart and brain thanks to their magnesium content and helping to transport oxygen around the body due to its iron content.
